COVID-19, social isolation and health ageing: How can we support older people?

COVID-19 impacts everyone and has changed the way that people live, work and communicate, with older adults also having an increased risk for complications from COVID-19.

Last week Rachel Meade, Injury Prevention Manager at Injury Matters, sat down (virtually) with Dr Julie Dare from Edith Cowan University to talk about the impact of COVID-19, social isolation and how people working with older adults can continue to provide support and promote healthy ageing within the context of the pandemic.

“Everybody as a community needs to think about how they’re staying in touch with their older friends, relatives or neighbour.”           Dr Julie Dare

Tune in and hear Julie’s insight into what the current social distancing restrictions mean for older people, what appropriate support is available for older people who are feeling anxious during the pandemic, and tips around how we can meaningfully engage with older people.
