Give It a Go Day Event

On Wednesday the 3rd of March, Injury Matters in partnership with the City of Fremantle, City of Melville, Town of East Fremantle, and South Metropolitan Health Service hosted the Move Your Body, Give It a Go Day to align with the beginning of the Move Your Body campaign.

Stall holders included COTA WA, Melville Cares, Southern Plus, the Stroke Foundation and the Paraplegic Benefit Fund, allowing older adults to engage with local health professionals and services.

Councillor Kerry Donovan from the Town of East Fremantle opened the event, followed by Physiotherapist, Josh who engaged all participants with a warm up before they went and trialed Tai Chi, Chair Yoga or Active Light. At the completion of the exercises, Josh facilitated a cool down and sat down to chat about the importance of building strength and challenging balance for falls prevention as part of the Stay On Your Feet® Move Your Body campaign.

Injury Matters General Manager – Injury Prevention said “Try to find activities that you enjoy to build your balance and strengthen your legs, not only will you get the physical benefits but you can enjoy with friends”.

The Move Your Body Campaign runs through until the end of May 2021.
